Umami Burger SF @ Union Street, San Francisco

I know, I know, there's a ton of places to go in SF without having to go to the same chain that we go to in LA, it's sad...But the Umami Burger is an addictive temptress and when there's the possibility of a local dealer for Burger crack...well at least it's not like we're going to an abandoned warehouse or anything....

Quite the opposite, Umami SF is located in the yuppie-esque neighborhood of Cow Hollow, where ergonomic baby strollers run amuck, the streets riddled with haute furniture stores cum massive price tags (delivery not included) and a bevy of bars where the drinks are abnormally flavored and sickeningly sweet, fecund with saccharin....

As you walk in, you see immediately by the interior, Umami's Far Eastern influences (far more than any of their other outposts in LA) by the wood paneling on the walls, the cool colored textured tiles on the floor, you're feel as though you've stumbled into a Japanese restaurant, not a burger joint...

Menu Roundup:
Drinks:         Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Appetizers:  Cheesy Tots
Mains:         Umami Burger

So we're not gonna lie here, we didn't venture out of our comfort zone: we had the usual: starting off with a cold, ginger brew, a bottle of Bundaberg.  There's nothing like it as it's absolutely refreshing!

We also ordered the Cheesy Tots, it's never on the menu, you have to ask for them. They are scrumptious little golden brown nuggets of fried cheesy potato goodness and it's awesomely delicious when you dunk them in the Umami Ketchup, the JalapeƱo Sauce or the Roasted Garlic Aoili!!

Every Umami location has their own signature Burger, (can't wait for the Las Vegas venue to open) and in the past, we've had the Bacon Wrapped Scallop Burger.  It's an amazing sandwich that blends Bay area seafood with good ole Crispy Pork Belly and I can't say anything more pleasant than it is a close second.....to the Umami Burger!

We've got mad love for the classic Umami: beautifully seasoned ground beef with Shitake Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, a roasted Tomato and Parmesan Tuille, all housed with a fluffy Brioche like toasted Bun.... Devilishly flavorful, it will elevate your perception of this All American Classic and ruin all others forever-you've been warned!!!
